TRAINER TIPS

Where do trainers go to answer some of the questions that they are asked at trainings? Well, for the most part, they go directly to Safety-Wise. Take the time to read through this leader-friendly resource to answer a variety of questions. For instance:

Turn to Safety-Wise page 37 to answer questions you may have about courses that can be used to train first aiders for Girl Scout activites. Are you looking for information about pools and lifeguards? Turn to page 120 to learn about the best safety practices for back yard pools.

Planning a trip using private passenger cars? Turn to page 73 and learn all that you need to know to keep girls safe. Also, you might want to check out information on horseback riding (page 102), or hayrides (page 131).

Not only should you turn to Safety-Wise for activities, but learn about the role of a Girl Scout Leader on page 9, or “Leading Those Challenging Girls” by Dr. Sylvia Rimm, on page 19.

Need a step by step chart that walks you through the steps of a “Leaders Role in Planning with Girls?” well, it is all laid out for you on page 24 and 25.

Safety-Wise is addressed to all adults in Girl Scouting, with particular emphasis on those who work directly with girls. It is full of information to enhance your development as a leader, quick tips for working with girls, and lots of advice on creating a safe environment in which to have fun.
