Community Service

The Cookie Share Program is a concept developed for Girl Scouts as a Community Service Project in which each girl can choose individually to participate. This year, Girl Scouts of Erie Shores is doing Operation: Thanks-A-Lot to support the U.S. Military. When taking orders door to door, she simply asks the customer if they would like to purchase additional boxes of cookies that would be donated to U.S. Military personnel deployed overseas. The girl orders those cookies in the white column just before Carmel DeLites and places the cookies order with her Troop Cookie Chair just like any other orders. When the cookies come in, the troop leader should sort the Operation: Thanks-A-Lot cookies and keep them for later delivery to the council office or local Red Cross location. The girl should receive the remaining cookies on her order form to deliver to her customers. The girl must remember to collect money for the donated cookies even though she is not physically delivery the cookies to her customer. Leaders should return the girls order card for use during delivery in case customers forget what they agreed to purchase.

Participation is voluntary. Operation: Thanks-A-Lot patches are available for purchase at Juliette's Treasures (council shop).

SALES HINT: Donation cookies are a great way to sell cookies to people who don't eat sweets, are on a diet, have cookies leftover from last year, etc….
