COOKIE BOOTH GUIDELINES
It may surprise some to find out that only a small percentage of the public is contacted directly to buy Girl Scout cookies. So the cookie booth is a phase of the sale that takes the cookies directly to the customer.
A change for 2006: All cookie booth locations are coordinated by the Product Sales Manager at the Council Service Center. This means everywhere from the Mall to the corner pizza shop!
Before approaching a store location to request permission to sell cookies, check the Girl Scouts of Erie Shores website. If the location is listed as “unassigned” you may sign up for the location via the website. If the location is not listed at all, contact Marianne Love at the Council Service Center to discuss the location prior to contacting site management. It’s very likely that the location has already been contacted and we do not want to duplicate efforts or double-book.
Troops awarded booth time slots will receive a booth confirmation in the mail Jan. 21 – Feb. 7, 2006.
Only Registered Brownie, Junior, and Teen Girl Scout troops/groups may participate in booth sales. Safety-Wise! Daisy Girl Scout troops may not participate in booth sales.
No tagalongs (only eligible Girl Scouts may be at a cookie booth) - please follow guidelines on your mailed booth confirmation about maximum number of girls allowed per booth – each site is different! Remember 2 registered Girl Scout adults at each booth site at all times.
Helpful Hints – teach girls in advance to:
- Introduce herself by first name only.
- Show respect and offer an opportunity to the customer.
- Help the customer decide. Ask for preference and narrow down the best choices.
- Review price and how the money will be used (troop goals).
- Turn negatives into positives to overcome objections.
- Listen to negatives and respond appropriately.
