Camp Timberlane is open to all girls, regardless of race, religion, national origin, or ability. If your camper currently is not a registered Girl Scout, a $10 membership fee must be included with the camp registration form. The Girl Scout membership year is October 1 to September 30.
Registration for resident camp is available when the brochure comes out, in mid-March. It doesn't take much to register your camper…just fill out the form and send it in with the appropriate deposit. To request that a brochure be mailed to you please email info@girlscoutserieshores.org.
Resident Camp fees range depending on the session your camper is attending. Camp fees cover direct services to our campers, including meals, supplies, health and accident insurance, transportation to and from special camp programs and camp staff salaries. Some programs have higher fees to offset the cost of special activities, such as sailing or horseback riding.
Many factors affect your decision to send your camper to camp. If cost is a factor for you, please consider applying for assistance. Through Girl Scout product sales and contributions from friends of Girl Scouting, Girl Scouts of Erie Shores has a generous Opportunity Fund designed to help girls experience a camping opportunity. To apply for Opportunity Fund, please fill out the financial assistance application on the back of the Resident Camp registration form. All information is confidential.
Girls live, play and work as a team, learning new skills, exploring new interests and sharing daily chores. They learn how to enjoy and respect nature. They take part of typical camp activities like swimming, creeking, hiking, archery, crafts and campfire sing-a-longs. And best of all, they make new friends! All activities are geared to each girl's ability and experience.
The Camp Director, a seasoned camper and staff member, oversees the camp staff and ensures that programming is beneficial for all campers. All our staff are trained, but more importantly they are self-motivated to provide a positive and memorable experience for the girls. Our staff has had reference checks and personal interviews followed by comprehensive training prior to camp's opening day.
Whether your camper's counselors are new to Camp Timberlane or not, they have all had extensive training and are CPR and First Aid certified.
Brownie Girl Scouts (ages 6-9) stay in cabins only. Older girls may live in cabins or platform tents. Camp Timberlane has a main dining hall, Olympic size in-ground pool, program center, and shower house. Other facilities include the camp office, Welcome Center, Health Center and Timberlane Treasures (camp store).
You will be sent a confirmation packet with packing lists after we receive your camper's registration form. Clothes should be practical and comfortable, not new. No uniform is required.
A physical exam is required every 24 months. If you camper has had a physical in the last 24 months, a new exam is not needed, however, a physician's signature is required on the Health History & Examination Form. All exams must be documented on the Health History & Examination Form.
In addition to the Health Supervisor, all staff is certified in First Aid and CPR. The Allen Medical Center in Oberlin cooperates closely in providing medical service. First Aide and health care professionals are on duty at all times.
The Girl Scout program is based on the democratic process called girl planning. Because of the girls' active participation in designing their camp experiences, activities published in the brochure may vary if the majority of the girls in the program vote to adapt their program to their specific interests. The adults supervising ensure that a safe and democratic process is observed and that the changes are based on the capabilities and interests of the campers.
